I've always been a small-time Batman fan ever since my sister and I would run home from school to watch the Batman Superman Adventures on KidsWB. That said, I was always pretty fine with the Joker, but I never really claimed to be a fanatic... not even in the Dark Knight even though I admit he was above and beyond the best character in the movie.

Then I played Arkham Asylum and did I fall hard! I don't think I really understood the joker fully until spending so much time with him. He's not so much a lunatic as he is a psychopath whose main goal is to prove that Batman is just as crazy as the lot and that anarchy is more natural and logical than this silly little song and dance the moral populace continues repeating in attempt to stave it off. As far as he's concerned, he's the only sane man in a giant madhouse and the scariest part about him is that what he says makes perfect sense. He's devious and clever and unpredictable in his theatrics but when it all boils down, all he wants is to watch the world realize they've been living a joke so that he can laugh down at them from above because he's the only one alive who gets the humor.

You Watchmen fans, he's the Comedian, or shall I say the Comedian is him. So in the reinterpretation of the genre by Alan Moore, the Joker is actually a hero. It's hilarious...It's all a joke, Mother forgive me...
