I didn't win, but I was featured in the news post and that's exciting enough! Maybe the most disappointing part, however, is that I animated it and it was hosted as a static image, so I'ma need to rectify the situation.
I tried to upload the video here, but no dice. DA does not like any of my standard filetypes. If I get it ported to swf I'll try again. Until then click here for the Youtube video: [link]
Those unaware, this is the version of the Master Chief featured in my longwinded webcomic Company0051
Voice credit of course goes to bungie, it's one of Steve Downes' lines from Reach:Firefight I stole off youtube.
Were it not for my shred of decency, I would harass the living hell out of you until you submit this piece to Jessica Shea (BS Angel) at Halo Waypoint. Funny thing is, his face matches up with his appearance's description in the fiction.
Strong jaw - check.
Short, brown hair - check.
Serious eyes (they're pale blue in the fiction) - check.
Looks so handsome, Cortana had to make a comment about it when analyzing him with Dr. Halsey - check.
I think his skin color's a little paler than that, but otherwise, this is fictionally accurate! Pair this with the fact that after being in cryo-sleep for so long in the fiction, he has the body of someone around his mid 30s, despite being around for 45 years (still younger than Cpt. Lasky), this might as well be Master Chief unmasked!
Quick, somebody send this to 343i; make sure they don't make him ugly or old if they ever unmask him (they might overlook the fiction and give us some random Average Joe)!
It was awesome!!
Nice work, gotta love the Chief's Firefight lines. xD
I just got goosebumps. ^___^
Don't get me wrong though, personality or not, the Master Chief is pretty much responsible for my fascination with big armoured supersoldier guys...
PS. And who couldn't love your version of the Chief? He's brilliant.
I've always read a soul in John, the way he treats the other soldiers and the banter he has with Cortana always painted him as a humble business guy working hard for what he does but being at heart kind of like a regular guy who doesn't really have a home or family, so he's making the best of what he's got and what he's made for.
But like I said, that's the book, not the game. Game-wise, he's nice enough... and that you can plausibly make him a nice guy is probably what I like best about your rendition. ^^
You've set me off now, I think way too deep about these things. xD
it would have been awesome if ya won though...but still, thats awesome
(Re: Reach: I maintain that I'm not quite a Chief fangirl, but when he said "Didja miss me?" to preview the firefight voice, I melted.)
