This is an example of knowing when to stop.
The smudge stick ATE MY DRAWING! THe lines you see there... that's me going in with an ebony pencil and trying to recover some kind of deatil. The smudge stick uberdarkened all of my shading so that you can barely see the lines... especially on Bastian's hand.
Oh, for the uninformed, this is Cat and Bastian from the book I'm writing. Bastian spends a lot of his time making sure Cat doesn't accidentally kill herself by getting in fights that are too big for her. She likes him, so she doesn't mind being pulled around by the arm.
I was going for a dramatic pose, but when I showed this to my family, they were like "Its so violent!" It doesn't look like he's going to hit her, does it? Because that's totally not what I was going for. I was going for haste.
